How NHS South Yorkshire ICB solved communication around National Out of Stock (OOS) medication challenges.
South Yorkshire ICB, in partnership with Community Pharmacy South Yorkshire, identified that both GPs and Pharmacies in the area were overwhelmed with the communication between care settings. With multiple channels used for communication, frequent delays, and miscommunications around out-of-stock medications, the team sought to make this more efficient, collaborative, and facilitate better relationships between these Primary Care teams. By onboarding all local pharmacies to Accurx, a secure NHS-approved communication platform, they streamlined messaging, improved medication management, and enhanced patient care outcomes. This case study outlines how they achieved it and offers a model for replication.
